Adult Ministry Opportunities

We encourage the adults of our congregation to get connected to others within the church through our many discipleship groups that we offer. Our many ministry opportunities give adults of any age a chance to become more involved. We have ministries for men, women, and seniors, as well as other groups that combine them all. We are always looking to people to lead groups. We hope that through this page, you may find a group that's right for you!

The Men's Ministry

Our men's ministry works to build up, equip, and connect men so that they can become Christ-honoring leaders in their everyday lives. There are several opportunities for men to gather and study scripture, address specific issues and deepen their life of discipleship. We also offer special events throughout the year such as breakfasts, workshops, and retreats. Listed Below are the times and locations for several of our men's small groups that we host throughout the week. If one of these gatherings does not work for you, please contact Pastor Tom to see what else might be available.

Small Group Times and Locations:

  • 6 am on Tuesdays at First Pres
  • 3 pm on Wednesdays at First Pres
  • 9:30 am on Thursdays at First Pres

The Women's Ministry

Our women's ministry is designed with the hope that women may encourage other women to accept and love who God created them to be. Together, we strive to provide a way for women to grow in their relationship with Christ, fellow beliefs, and a hurting world. The women's ministry offers small group bible studies as well as opportunities for fellowship, prayer, service, and outreach. A few of our small groups are listed below. Please contact Janet, Tasha, Charity, or Chris for more information or for other opportunities not listed.

GriefShare

Grieving the loss of a loved one is never easy—but you don’t have to walk through it alone. GriefShare is a faith-based support program offering comfort, guidance, and encouragement after the death of a loved one.

While FPC’s GriefShare group is not open to new participants, you’re welcome to explore other GriefShare groups available throughout the Grand Valley.

Shared Ministry Opportunities

We also have a few groups that are not specifically for men or women. These include small groups such as Wednesday in the Word, the visitation team, S.A.M.s and more. Scroll down to find out more about our shared groups!

Wednesday in the Word

Every Wednesday at 12p.m., we meet in The Gathering Place to discuss some the ideas that will be presented in the next week's sermon. One of our pastors typically leads the group that week, while those who come are invited to bring snacks and enthusiasm!

Visitation Team

Our Visitation Team is a ministry that cares for those who aren't able to travel to come to our church. We go out to visit with those members together to show them that they are still a vital part of the congregation. we meet the 1st Wednesday of every month in The Gathering Place at 10:30 a.m. to keep everyone up-to-date on who we are visiting and any changes to those on the visitation list.

Senior Adult Ministry (S.A.M.)

Our SAM ministry exists to provide opportunities for fellowship, growth in faith, and service to others who are 50 years and older. In this ministry, we are always finding creative ways to gather and adventure together on the Western Slope. We host several events each month that promote fellowship, faith, and service. S.A.M.s also has a team of volunteers that meet once a month to help plan our events throughout the year.

Fellowship

Community is always an important aspect of the church, and that doesn't stop when we start getting into our "third-third" of life. To ensure that our seniors get many chances to interact with each other, we host several fellowship events throughout the month. Although these events are marketed for S.A.M.s specifically, people of all ages are invited to attend!

Our fellowship events include:

  • Luncheons - We offer a potluck luncheon on the second Monday of each month from 11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Anyone is welcome to attend. Guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share and enjoy the speaker or entertainment that is provided. Some of our recent focuses include instrumental/vocal concerts, highlighting local businesses and organizations, special interest topics, travel series and more.
  • Game Days - We offer a game day in the Fellowship Hall from 9:30-11:00 a.m. the second Friday of each month. Anyone is also welcome to attend these events! We select various games each month, but if those aren't your style, board games and card games are also available. Feel free to bring your favorite game to share with the group! Snacks drinks will be provided.
  • Outings - We offer 3-4 outing events each year, or sometimes even more. These outings can vary from performance at CMU to wine tours at Palisade. Our one outing that we do annually is a Christmas Light Tour in December. We work to find interesting and fun new experience to do for each out. Transportation for outings typically comes through our bus or by carpooling from the church.
  • Hikes - The past several years we have hosted three hikes in early spring. These are easy hikes which are a great way to get to know others and enjoy God’s creation.
  • Book Club - We have a Women’s Book Club that meets the second Monday of each month at 1:30 pm in the church. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please call the church office to get connected with the person facilitating this group!
