The only true remedy for guaranteeing fear does NOT win out in our love for God AND love for others is to be filled with the perfect love of God demonstrated in the 'atoning work' of Jesus - the "Always FIRST love of God." As we come to the end of this sermon series, Fear Not, join us in worship as we talk about loving God and others well, without any fear.

Fear is something we as people have struggled with since the beginning and will continue to struggle with until Christ returns. And yet, once again, God says to us in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear Not!”. God’s answer to fear today is the same as it was in Isaiah’s day. Join us in worship as we are reminded of who God is and why we don't have to fear.

As we have looked at the truth of God’s Word throughout this series we have been reminded over and over again how God knows our struggle with fear. In this week's passage, we hear the promise of Psalm 27. "The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall, I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?" This is not only a promise, but it raises an important question we need to ask ourselves. Whom shall I fear? Join us in worship as we build a sandwich (yes, you read that right, a sandwich) framed in the context of Psalm 27 which gives us direction and answers to living with confidence in a world that at times feels so broken, complex, overwhelming and even frightening.

Look Forward
Sermon and scripture reading by Tom Hansen, Senior Pastor
Children's Sermon and Time of Prayer by Jason Emberger, Assistant Pastor of Student Ministries

The Israelites are in the middle of a very hard season, fearful they will never get back to flourishing as a nation that is intimate with, obedient to, and blessed by God. They needed something to Look Forward to; to help them get past their fears. God, through Isaiah, created a glorious vision of that something to "Look Forward" to. In the same manner, we do not need to be afraid because the Lord is with us, and He has given us something to Look Forward to that far outweighs the struggles we face and the fears we feel. Join us this week in worship as we explore how "Looking Forward" can help us get over/through what causes frustration, anxiety and fear.

Becoming Courageous Leaders
Sermon and scripture reading by Tom Hansen, Senior Pastor

Fear is understandable; especially when standing in between "what was and what is to come."  When we are anxious our tendency is to stay put, remain stuck, dig in our heels, fight back, deflect responsibility. In this week's scripture reading from Deuteronomy 31, Moses says to Joshua, and to us, "Don't be afraid or discouraged."  So where does courage come from?  And how do we lose it; get cut off from it?

Everyone is susceptible to fear.  Sometimes fear sneaks up on us; sometimes it feels overwhelming.  Sometimes we're in denial of the fear that grips us. When we try to go it alone without God's overwhelming, strong loving presence, we should be afraid. But, if we are close to God, under His protection, we have no need to be afraid. Is this how we are living our lives? Would people say this of us?

Out of all the Psalms, Psalm 23 is probably the most well-known and recognized Psalms and maybe even passages of the Bible. We know the words of this Psalm. We know God’s promise here. Yet, if we still find ourselves consumed, overwhelmed by fear, full of worry, and constantly wanting more, perhaps we have fallen to the hidden danger of familiarity. How many of us are living daily into the promise and power of this passage?

This message is the first of the sermon series, Fear Not.  There are endless realities that can make us fearful or anxious.  What are you afraid of? What are you anxious about?  Today's passage speaks directly into our living; including our fearfulness and anxiety.
