What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry is a program designed to organize and equip a group of members within the congregation to provide high quality one-on-one care with others in the congregation and community who are struggling. Stephen Ministers are trained by Stephen Leaders to offer care for those who need it, also known as care receivers. These Ministers go through 50 hours of caregiving training, working alongside our pastors to provide emotional and spiritual support to people who are going through a difficult time, such as divorce, grief, hospitalization, unemployment, terminal illness, relocation, chronic illness, or loneliness. The best part of Stephen Ministry: care is confidential.

We have a few Stephen Ministers at First Presbyterian Church who meet every other Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to continue learning how best to serve and support our congregation. We plan to host another training class for Stephen Ministers, soon. If you have gifts for caring, encouragement, and listening, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether you might want to take part in this exciting ministry.
