Tuesday, July 10th -
Today we made huge
progress! We got all of the walls up and the roof frame up and in place. We
even started to put on the roofing sheets of plywood and prepare the
exterior walls for the stucco. We are ahead of schedule - even with the
setbacks on Monday and a very interesting encounter with some bees. Our
family had a hive of bees in the exterior wall that we sort of ignored on
Monday. But, knowing that we had to put of walls and work on the roof in
their proximity, we decided to go after them in the morning. Big mistake!
There were way to many for attemots with raid and a spray bottle of insect
killer that we bought at a little pet store and mixed together.
Sean, Tom and Doug Begg
tried for awhile and then realized we were in over our heads. What to do?
Tom made it his mission for the day to get those bees. So we bought more
poison and a pressurized sprayer and, with the help of Uncle Jose, defeated
the whole hive. The walls went up all afternoon and it looks fantastic.
The VBS Team also had a great turnout of neighborhood kids which was
followed by a big game of soccer at a nearby field. It seemed like the whole
neighborhood was watching. We are starting to feel at home in this place.
Our time back at camp
made it evident that our team is growing closer - a lot of encouragement
cards are being written and put into our Mexico mail box, there is a lot of
laughter, and a deep sense of satisfaction among us all. Sean talked about
the importance of being plumb (Amos 7)or true in life and faith. Just as we
used a level to make sure our house is square, we can use scripture and our
relationships with each other to keep us in the middle of Godīs will for our
lives.
