Following in
his father's footsteps, Kent began his piano study and church music
experience at age seven. During his high school years, he studied organ with
Paul Waters, Minister of Music of a large United Methodist church in IL. He
also served as
Organist/Co-Director of Music at the Lakewood United Church of Christ
in Colorado for eight years. Kent majored in music at Drake University
where he received a bachelor’s degree in Church Music, with an emphasis in
Organ Performance and Piano. His instructors included, Dr. Carol Staplin,
Dr. David Herman, and Swiss organist, Guy Bovet.
Kent also
served as keyboardist for several wedding chapels in the Denver metro area,
maintained a piano tuning and service business, and shared a private
teaching studio of forty students with his wife Terese. |
